Eduardo Pinto has been coaching the selection for 17 years.
In fact, he looks after all of the Argentina Women’s National Teams (U18, U19 and Senior) and does not coach any club. If Pinto asks one thing of his players, it’s to make sure that they play defence as if their lives depended on it. On offence, Pinto preaches patience, telling his players to work for a good shot. That’s the way the albiceleste played in Brazil during the 2006 FIBA World Championship. Because the Argentinian team tries to compensate its lack of size with relentless defence, Pinto uses a lot of substitutions during games. His assistants are Roberto Santin, the coach of the River Plate men, and Velez Sarsfield women’s boss Gabriel Guso.
