Career: Basketball Club Habana (Cuba-D1, 2006-07).
Avila Casanas is a valuable member of Cuba's starting five who played at the 2006 FIBA World Championship for Women in Brazil. It wasn't until last year's FIBA Americas Championship in Chile where she made her mark, though. She finished as the second leading rebounder for Cuba with more than five per game. She also had some fine moments at the 2008 Beijing Basketball Test Event, scoring 15 of her 19 points in the second half in Cuba's 75-71 win over New Zealand in the opening game. In the 65-61 third-place game defeat to world champions Australia, she hit a
couple of three-pointers and finished with 12 points.
