Career: Jeanne d’Arc Dakar (Senegal, 1999-08)

Awa began to play for Jeanne d’Arc Dakar at the age of just 14. Known as a player who can hit the big shots when games hang in the balance, she is a strong defender that can stop virtually any opposing player. Awa played well at the 2007 FIBA Africa Championship but left the tournament hugely disappointed after getting just limited minutes in the final against Mali, despite having put forth a very strong performance in the time she did get on defence against Malian star Hamchetou Maïga-Ba.
